Biography of speaker:

QingJun Meng is a Professor of Chronobiology and a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, University of Manchester. After obtaining his PhD in 2002, he started his post-doctoral training at University of Manchester to investigate the molecular mechanisms and pharmacological resetting of the biological clocks. In 2009, he received a MRC Career Development Fellowship and started his own research group, focusing on circadian clocks, ageing and age-associated diseases. In 2015, he was awarded an ARUK Senior Fellowship to continue his work into the roles of circadian clocks in the musculoskeletal system. He was promoted to Professor of Chronobiology in 2017. He is a Committee member and Bursary Chair for the British Society for Matrix Biology, Theme Leader of the Chrono-Matrix theme within the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Matrix Research (UOM), Academic Lead of the Biosciences International Summer School (UOM), International Advisory Board member of Matrix Biology Europe, MRC College of Reviewers for the Newton Fund, Versus Arthritis College of Experts. He regularly contributes to media interviews, including BBC news. He has published in Neuron, PNAS, Current Biology, J Cell Science, Nature Communications, J Clin Invest, Annals Rheumatic Diseases, Genes & Development, Arthritis & Rheumatology, Nature Reviews Rheumatology.
